Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 83 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 76 - 22 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Fighter B stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fighter B wants it to stay on the feet. Fighter A shoots in looking for a takedown but Fighter B manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fighter A's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Fighter B raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Fighter A gets caught napping as Fighter B dives in and scores a takedown. Fighter A manages to retain guard. Fighter A striking off his back but it's not causing Fighter B any problems. Fighter A controlling Fighter B's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fighter B is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter A is trying to control the position but Fighter B postures up. Fighter A managing to control the position. Fighter B is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Fighter B's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Fighter B leaves Fighter A with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Fighter B replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fighter A blocks it well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fighter A decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter A prevents Fighter B from improving his position. Fighter B preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Fighter A throws a strike but Fighter B avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Fighter B is adopting a defensive guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Fighter A passes into half guard. Fighter B is positioning himself well to prevent Fighter A advancing to mount. Fighter B is continuing to stall. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Fighter B regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Fighter A. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Xxx Xxx dominated that round. That's time! Fighter A's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Fighter A scores with a kick to the body.
Fighter B drives through with a takedown into Fighter A's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Fighter B stays in close to Fighter A's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fighter B postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter A seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Fighter A looking to control.
Fighter B showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Fighter A is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Fighter B rolls with it to try and escape but Fighter A cranks on the arm and Fighter B is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
