Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between mj Stowers (ranked 4387 p4p, 4129 weight class) and Jay Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stowers fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Stowers shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lewis pinned against the cage. Lewis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Stowers moves in looking to clinch but Lewis pushes him off.

Lewis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Stowers misses with a takedown attempt - Lewis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Stowers has his takedown stuffed
and Lewis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lewis slaps away a takedown attempt from Stowers, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lewis throws out a counter right but Stowers avoids it with no problem.

Stowers darts in and clinches Lewis up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stowers jumps guard and drags Lewis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lewis has gone for a leg lock! Stowers slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lewis's guard.


Lewis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Lewis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stowers is aware though and is defending well.

Stowers creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lewis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Stowers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lewis can do to turn this around?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stowers is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lewis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lewis can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lewis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stowers wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Stowers is trying to get an arm triangle but Lewis is defending well.
Stowers is looking to take a break and control but Lewis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stowers lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lewis down.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stowers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
