PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Van Dukes (ranked 4374 p4p, 4319 weight class) and Ragnar Bones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Van Dukes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ragnar Bones!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bones keeps the fight on the outside.
Bones steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Dukes.
Dukes wants to clinch.

Bones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dukes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dukes is trying to escape the position but Bones is controlling the position.
Dukes tries to bench press Bones off him but Bones keeps the position.

Bones stands up and beckons Dukes to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dukes throws a right hand that Bones ducks under and follows up with a left that Bones also avoids with ease.

Bones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dukes, pushing him back against the cage.

Bones is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dukes can't fight it off and eventually Bones manages to take the fight to the floor. Dukes looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bones wanted to stand there but Dukes had control of the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dukes's guard.
Bones wants to pass the guard but Dukes is defending well.
Bones with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Bones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dukes defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dukes is looking to improve his position.
Bones is nestled in close to Dukes, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Dukes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bones controlling the action here.
Dukes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dukes trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Bones manages to pass to mount!
Bones content just to control the position here.
Bones avoids the attempt from Dukes to control.
Dukes is looking to improve his position but Bones isn't that keen on the idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bones controlling his opponent.
Bones looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

It looks like Bones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bones lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dukes hang on?
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ragnar Bones dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Dukes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bones keeps the fight on the outside.
Bones steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Dukes.
Dukes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And Bones tries to counter it with a takedown but Dukes pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Dukes throws a combination. Bones tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Ragnar Bones has been cut.
Dukes tries to clinch up but Bones circles away and keeps his distance.

Bones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bones drops back looking for a leg! Dukes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dukes manages to kick Bones off! Bones jumps back into Dukes's guard.
Bones advances to half guard.
Bones passes to full mount!

Bones sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Dukes is working to get back to half guard.
Bones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bones has isolated one of Dukes's arms. Dukes looking to fight him off but Bones twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
