PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Agbay Amiga (ranked 23904 p4p, 24240 weight class) and Helen Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 39 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Agbay Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 33 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Helen Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga has a takedown stuffed.
Nice takedown defense from Salvacion. No joy for Amiga on that attempt.
Salvacion tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Amiga swivels and escapes.
Amiga quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Amiga napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Amiga is not content to let Salvacion control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Salvacion working away.
Salvacion controls the position.
Amiga is looking for a sweep.
Amiga is trying to control Salvacion's posture but Salvacion avoids it.
Amiga is letting Salvacion control him for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Amiga tries for a takedown but Salvacion circles away easily
and Salvacion counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Agbay Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Salvacion defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Amiga.

Amiga closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Amiga working away.
Amiga laying and praying for a moment but Salvacion takes advantage and regains half guard.
Salvacion is positioning himself well to prevent Amiga advancing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Amiga tries to stand and escape but Salvacion actually recovers to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga is fighting to break Salvacion's control of his arms but Salvacion is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Helen Salvacion dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Amiga dives in and grabs Salvacion's left leg, looking for a takedown. Salvacion pushes down on Amiga's head and hops out.
Salvacion follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Amiga stuffs the takedown.
Amiga went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Amiga closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Amiga lands in his opponent's guard.
Salvacion managing to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Amiga wants to stand but Salvacion has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Salvacion trying to control the position.
Amiga content to stall in guard here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Salvacion is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Amiga enables Salvacion to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Amiga manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Salvacion slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion trying to control the position from guard on top but Amiga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Salvacion with a nice head shot there.
Amiga has control of Salvacion's left arm, preventing Salvacion from doing any damage.
Salvacion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Agbay Amiga will probably get the nod.
That's time! Amiga's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Amiga has his takedown stuffed

and Salvacion counters with a nice double leg into side control. Amiga won't be happy with that.
Amiga struggling a bit here.
Salvacion is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion trying to control the action but Amiga is working from the bottom.

Amiga wants to control but Salvacion postures up.
Salvacion taking a breather here.
Salvacion postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Salvacion misses with the ground and pound.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Salvacion as he jumps to the side.
And Salvacion tries to counter it with a takedown but Amiga pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Salvacion tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Amiga swivels and escapes.
Amiga half committed to a counter leg kick.
Salvacion has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Salvacion fails to land the takedown.
Amiga thinks about countering with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown but Salvacion shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Agbay Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Amiga stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Amiga wants it to stay on the feet.
Amiga jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Amiga fails with a takedown attempt.
Salvacion thinks about the counter body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Amiga fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Salvacion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Salvacion steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
Helen Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
