Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 35 - 30 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Gustafsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Joel Miller! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller ducks down and throws a hook to the body. A cross from Miller lands.
It looks like Simon Gustafsson has been cut. Gustafsson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Miller to the mat! Miller manages to get full guard. Miller looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Gustafsson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gustafsson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Miller not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gustafsson throws an elbow that misses. Miller uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gustafsson's guard. Nice move by Miller! Miller looking to pass the guard. Gustafsson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gustafsson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gustafsson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Miller gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Miller's corner is telling him to maintain position. Gustafsson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Gustafsson looking for a guillotine here but Miller defends easily.
Gustafsson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily. Gustafsson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gustafsson keeping full guard, as Miller tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller trying to control the position from guard on top but Gustafsson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Miller avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gustafsson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Miller gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gustafsson is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Miller rolls with it to try and escape but Gustafsson cranks on the arm and Miller is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
