Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Whelan (ranked 2653 p4p, 4685 weight class) and Khamzat Nurmagemedov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whelan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Mamas & the Papas - California Dreamin'. Mickey Whelan has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Khamzat Nurmagemedov!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Hemmingworth and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Whelan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nurmagemedov's guard.

Nurmagemedov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Whelan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Whelan has hold of Nurmagemedov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nurmagemedov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Mickey Whelan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
