PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deadly Beagle (ranked 4348 p4p, 4422 weight class) and Phil Cayman (ranked 188 p4p, 195 weight class). Cayman has chosen Bulls on Parade- Rage Against The Machine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Phil Cayman is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Deadly Beagle !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Phil Cayman!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beagle leaves Cayman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Beagle looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Cayman with a poor takedown
and Beagle counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cayman has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Cayman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cayman shoots in but no luck this time.
Deadly Beagle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Cayman.

Cayman gets a double leg takedown into Beagle 's guard.
Cayman lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Beagle has a closed guard, preventing Cayman from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cayman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Beagle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cayman on the ground.

Cayman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cayman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cayman is in close to Beagle 's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Cayman pushes down on Beagle 's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Cayman works his foot free and advances to mount.

Cayman looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Cayman is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Beagle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Beagle shrugs it off.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Cayman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Cayman working away from the top, dropping strikes.

Cayman has hold of Beagle 's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Beagle manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Beagle takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Cayman landing strikes from the mount and Beagle is in trouble!

Cayman looking to control but Beagle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cayman connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Cayman working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Cayman working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Beagle turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Cayman off and cradles Beagle 's limp body as Cayman celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Phil Cayman!
A relieved looking Phil Cayman thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
