PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Un Kha (ranked 24150 p4p, 24099 weight class) and Jason Nolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kha's entrance music is Eye of the tiger. A fine choice. Un Kha has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Un Kha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Nolan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kha.
Kha looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Kha looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Kha controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Nolan wants to sweep but no luck.
Kha trying to control the position from guard on top but Nolan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nolan controls Kha momentarily but Kha frees himself.
Nolan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kha controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kha pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nolan is keeping the position for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kha will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nolan lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Nolan fails with the takedown.

Kha feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Nolan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kha controls the pace.

Nolan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Kha thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Nolan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kha drops back looking for a leg! Nolan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nolan manages to kick Kha off! Kha jumps back into Nolan's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kha preventing the sweep.
Kha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nolan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kha trying to control but Nolan is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nolan shoots in but no luck this time.
Kha is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Nolan.
Nolan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kha as he jumps to the side.
Un Kha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Nolan.

Kha avoids a punch combination nicely.

Kha shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kha showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nolan looks winded!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nolan is looking to escape.
Nolan holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Kha is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nolan defends it well.
Kha works his way into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kha working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Kha is working for a guillotine from mount but Nolan frees his head quite easily.
Kha moves to take his opponent's back.

Kha working for a choke but Nolan is defending well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nolan trying to control the action but Kha just sinks the hooks in.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Un Kha dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Nolan takes the fight into the clinch.

Kha's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nolan misses with a kick to the body.
Kha is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nolan can do to turn this around?
Nolan wants to clinch.
Un Kha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nolan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kha swivels and escapes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kha bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kha cracks Nolan with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Kha is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nolan has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kha avoids the strikes from the bottom by Nolan.
Nolan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Nolan tries to improve position but can't.
Nolan wants to control but Kha postures up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kha is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nolan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kha wants to control but Nolan is keeping him busy.
Un Kha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Kha tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kha has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kha swings around for an armbar but Nolan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kha's guard.
Kha has his hands on Nolan's head, controlling the position.
Kha throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Kha looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nolan trying to control the position from guard on top but Kha is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kha has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Nolan wants to pass the guard but Kha is keeping the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kha keeping moving, preventing Nolan from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Un Kha dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Nolan lands a nice hook to Kha's body. Kha takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Nolan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kha's half guard.

Kha manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Nolan keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Kha is pressed up against the cage. Nolan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kha down to the mat. Kha avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kha fails with a takedown attempt.
Un Kha is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kha closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nolan to the mat! Nolan manages to get full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nolan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kha drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nolan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nolan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nolan!

Kha tries to escape but Nolan is in control.

Nolan stands up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nolan misses with a takedown
and Kha makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kha shoots in for a takedown but Nolan shows good takedown defense.

Nolan closes the distance and clinches.

Kha breaks the clinch.
Kha looks to land a body kick but Nolan moved away.
Nolan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nolan tries for a takedown but Kha circles away easily
and Kha cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Un Kha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Nolan.
Nolan throws a leg kick but Kha moved away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nolan enables Kha to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nolan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Nolan scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kha shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nolan's guard.
Kha is pushing down on Nolan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nolan is fighting to maintain full guard but Kha has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kha is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kha lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Nolan is in trouble now - Kha has advanced to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nolan wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Kha controlling the position easily from mount.
Nolan is trying desperately to improve position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Un Kha showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kha, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
