Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Slate (ranked 5292 p4p, 5706 weight class) and Fred Howe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Howe has chosen New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle as his entrance music. Fred Howe is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Slate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Howe! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slate dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Slate tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Howe was well out of range. Poor timing from Slate. Howe shoots in and bounces Slate off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Slate kicks Howe off and gets to his feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Slate. Slate is breathing heavily. Slate shoots in and drives through. Howe sprawls well. Despite the aggression on Howe's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. We've been hearing reports that Slate has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Slate darts in and clinches Howe up against the cage. Howe pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Slate shoots in for a takedown but Howe shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Slate. That's going to take a lot out of him. Howe connects with the punch. Howe scores with a takedown into Slate's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Howe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Howe pushing down on Slate's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Howe is taking a breather. Slate says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Slate trying to hold on to Howe's head to control him but Howe postures up.
Howe drops an elbow to the side of Slate's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Howe seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Howe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Slate with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Howe looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Howe is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Howe in particular looking to stall. Slate wants to improve his position but Howe is controlling well.
Howe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Slate takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Howe gets a double leg takedown into Slate's guard. Howe showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Howe forces his way into half guard. Howe controlling the action here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Howe dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Howe drives through with a takedown into Slate's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Howe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slate swivels though and keeps the full guard. Howe content to stall in guard here. Howe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Howe looking to pass the guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slate looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Howe passes into half guard.
Fred Howe has got the better of the ground game so far. Howe lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Slate trying to control from the bottom.
Slate is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Howe pulls his head out easily. Howe working the head and body with strikes. Howe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Howe not doing much here.
Howe tries to pass to full mount but Slate defends it. Slate missing with punches from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Howe looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Howe. Howe throws a head kick that misses. Sloppy strikes from Howe. Those never looked like landing. Slate tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Howe paws at him with a jab and circles away. Howe forces Slate back against the cage and clinches. Howe breaks the clinch.
Howe lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Howe dodges the punch combination from Slate.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Howe looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Slate is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Howe presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Slate is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Howe works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Howe cracks Slate with a solid left hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Slate trying to strike off his back.
Howe stops Slate from standing up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Howe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Howe drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slate can't do much from the bottom here. Slate is looking to reverse the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Howe controlling from side mount. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Howe landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Slate is looking for a sweep. Slate wants to control but Howe postures up. Howe takes a little break here. Slate wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Howe is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Slate looks calm but he's in trouble here. Howe gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Slate is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Howe lets go of the hold and Slate can pop his arm back in it's socket.
