Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Mackintosh (ranked 4431 p4p, 4476 weight class) and Zander Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Mackintosh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Zander Woods! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woods gets tackled into the cage by Mackintosh. Mackintosh maintains the clinch. Mackintosh misses with an elbow over the top. Mackintosh throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Woods blocks it with crossed arms. Mackintosh with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Mackintosh's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Woods is looking for a takedown. Woods pulls Mackintosh into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Woods is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mackintosh working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Woods. Woods advances position into side control! Woods looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mackintosh is avoiding damage well.
Woods is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mackintosh has escaped the position, nice work there. Mackintosh is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Woods has just dragged him back down to the mat. Woods content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mackintosh is looking to get back to his feet here but Woods is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mackintosh's back. Woods slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mackintosh is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Mackintosh is having to fend off submission attempts from Woods, who is looking to sink in the choke. Woods doesn't have the hooks in though and Mackintosh manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Woods manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mackintosh misses with a knee to the head. John Mackintosh has scored more points in the clinch so far. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Woods is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mackintosh is defending well. Woods wants to break free. Woods ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Woods no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Woods bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mackintosh's guard. Mackintosh has momentary wrist control but Woods slips an elbow through the middle. Woods showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woods passes Mackintosh's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Woods takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Zander Woods has got the better of the ground game so far. Woods moves nicely into side control. Woods creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mackintosh sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Woods is working Mackintosh over with some ground and pound from side control. Mackintosh is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Woods remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Mackintosh will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Mackintosh tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Woods paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mackintosh lands with a slapping head kick. John Mackintosh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Woods closes the distance and clinches. Woods changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mackintosh fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mackintosh tries to clinch up. Mackintosh throws a half hearted mid kick. Woods shoots in looking for a takedown but Mackintosh manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Woods's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Both fighters circling a little - Mackintosh finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Nice takedown defense from Mackintosh. No joy for Woods on that attempt. John Mackintosh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zander Woods. Woods fails with the takedown. Mackintosh tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woods has taken the fight to the clinch.

Woods pulls Mackintosh in to control the position. Woods escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mackintosh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Woods is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Woods postures up in Mackintosh's guard and throws a big left but Mackintosh blocks it. Mackintosh can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Woods controls the pace. Let's hope that Woods has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Woods stops Mackintosh from standing up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woods with a flurry of punches that miss. Woods pushes down on Mackintosh's leg and manages to get into half guard. Woods performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Woods. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Woods is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Mackintosh wants to clinch up but Woods keeps it at a distance. Woods unleashes a big counter combination but Mackintosh bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Mackintosh instigates a clinch. Woods tries to pull guard but Mackintosh forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Woods tries to pull guard but Mackintosh holds him up against the cage and eventually Woods drops back down to his feet.
Mackintosh gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Woods takes an elbow to the temple. Mackintosh misses with a knee to the head. Woods jumps guard and drags Mackintosh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Mackintosh stands and steps away. Woods gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mackintosh is looking to clinch. Zander Woods is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mackintosh wants to clinch up but Woods keeps it at a distance. Mackintosh is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
