Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erasmo Bezerra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christ Benoit!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bezerra misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Benoit.
Bezerra throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Benoit scores with a push kick.
Benoit lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Benoit lands with a right hand.
Benoit looks for the body kick but Bezerra saw that one coming.
Bezerra is looking to counter punch.
Benoit misses with a body shot.
A lazy left from Bezerra finds it's target.
Benoit lands a big uppercut and Bezerra crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Bezerra looks OK. Benoit waves Bezerra back to his feet!

Benoit loads up on a big right hand but Bezerra slips the punch.
Oh Bezerra is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Benoit looks to land a right hand but Bezerra moved out of range.

Benoit throws a leg kick but Bezerra sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Bezerra shoots for a takedown but Benoit saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bezerra takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Bezerra shoots in but no luck this time.
Benoit attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Bezerra avoids the body shot from Benoit.
Christ Benoit is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bezerra lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A jab from Benoit misses.
It looked like Bezerra was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Benoit.

Bezerra takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Erasmo Bezerra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Benoit chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Bezerra seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Bezerra is pressing down on Benoit's thigh, looking to free his foot. Benoit is holding on for now.
Bezerra is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Benoit is just riding it out for now. Bezerra eventually gives up the hold.
Benoit trying to hold on to Bezerra's head to control him but Bezerra postures up.

Benoit is positioning himself well to prevent Bezerra advancing to mount.
Bezerra trying to control from half guard but Benoit is working away.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bezerra is thwarting Benoit's attempts to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bezerra looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Benoit is fending him off so far but Bezerra persists. Nope, Benoit circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Erasmo Bezerra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bezerra throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Benoit was covering up waiting for the punch and Bezerra finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bezerra chips away with some ground and pound.

Benoit pulls Bezerra in close to prevent any damage.
Benoit utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bezerra throwing strikes but missing.
Bezerra trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bezerra thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bezerra lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bezerra is in close to Benoit's body, working some short punches and elbows.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Christ Benoit dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Benoit misses with a lunging right hand

Bezerra digs a good hook to Benoit's body.
Bezerra throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Benoit throws a right hand that misses
and Benoit takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

BOOM! Bezerra lands a beautiful left hook that drops Benoit. Benoit tries to recover but Bezerra is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Benoit lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
