PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chance Boudreaux (ranked 3051 p4p, 4365 weight class) and Braun Chase (ranked 465 p4p, 184 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chance Boudreaux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Braun Chase!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boudreaux looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Chase unleashes a big counter combination but Boudreaux bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Boudreaux throws a head kick that misses.
Boudreaux misses with a right hand

and Chase counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Chase is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Boudreaux sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chase is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Chase passes to full mount!
Chase lands a big shot there that rocks Boudreaux but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Chase lands with some strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chase tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Boudreaux takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Boudreaux knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chase on the ground.

Chase is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Chase looks for the body kick but Boudreaux saw that one coming.
Boudreaux misses with a head kick.
Chase keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As Boudreaux backs off Chase throws a huge counter combo but Boudreaux manages to avoid it all.
Boudreaux throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Chase fails with a takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
No luck for Chase with that takedown attempt.
Boudreaux is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Chase.
Boudreaux displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chase.
Chance Boudreaux has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Braun Chase.

Chase clinches.
Chase misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Boudreaux.
Boudreaux tries to break free but Chase pushes him back against the cage.
Chase is looking for a takedown.

Chase escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Chase drives through with a takedown into Boudreaux's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Boudreaux is wriggling around but Chase manages to pass to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chase seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Chase thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boudreaux's head.

Chase decides to stand and escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boudreaux tries a head kick but it misses.
Chase is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Boudreaux lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Chase changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boudreaux tries to avoid it but Chase manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boudreaux to the ground. Boudreaux escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A slapping body kick lands there for Boudreaux.
Boudreaux slaps away a takedown attempt from Chase, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Boudreaux tries to clinch there but Chase circles away.

Chase moves into the clinch successfully.
Boudreaux tries to land a knee to the head but Chase blocks with his arms.

Boudreaux breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Chase shoots in looking for a takedown but Boudreaux manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chase's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Braun Chase dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Chase doesn't manage to clinch there - Boudreaux circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chase.
Chase is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Chase shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Chase is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boudreaux has hold of Chase's hands but Chase slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Chase stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boudreaux is looking to get back to is feet but Chase passes into side control.
Chase postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Chase just content to control the position.
Chase has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Chase creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Boudreaux sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Chase remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Chase misses with the ground and pound.
Chase has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chase scoring with punches and elbows.
Chase connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Boudreaux some visible discomfort.
Boudreaux is pushing Chase's head away, looking to escape. Chase manages to hold on to the position though.
A lull in the action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chase throws a strike aimed at the side of Boudreaux's head but Boudreaux avoids it well.

Chase has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Boudreaux is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Chase yanks on the arm and Boudreaux is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Chase.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Braun Chase!
