PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryo Hamada (ranked 2872 p4p, 3359 weight class) and Binsar Siregar (ranked 355 p4p, 404 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ryo Hamada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Binsar Siregar!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Siregar works Hamada's body with a nice hook.
Siregar has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Siregar there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hamada tries a head kick but it misses.
Hamada thows a leg kick but Siregar checks it
letting Siregar counter with a right hand.
Siregar misses with a straight left.

Siregar clinches up with Hamada and pushes him back against the cage.
Siregar goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hamada prevents it.
A short right from Siregar.
Hamada has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Hamada is looking to break free of the clinch but Siregar has double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Siregar wants a takedown.
Siregar is working for takedown but Hamada is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ryo Hamada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Binsar Siregar.
Siregar is looking for a takedown.
Siregar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hamada gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Come on Hamada - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Hamada taking a breather.
Hamada seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Hamada tries to break the clinch but Siregar is controlling the position.
Hamada tries to circle away but Siregar has him pinned against the cage.
Siregar keeps control of Hamada as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Siregar gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Siregar with the ground and pound but Hamada uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Hamada is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Siregar dives into side control.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Siregar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hamada tries to improve position but can't.
Siregar throws a strike aimed at the side of Hamada's head but Hamada avoids it well.
Hamada can't do much from the bottom here.

Siregar goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hamada rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Siregar's guard! Nice work there by Hamada!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Siregar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hamada is controlling him.
Hamada controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Siregar is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Siregar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hamada is one step ahead there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Siregar is looking to sweep but instead, Hamada has passed into half guard.
Siregar is trying to control but Hamada passes into side control!
Hamada trying to control the action but Siregar is working from the bottom.
Siregar is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Siregar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Siregar regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hamada controls from within his opponent's guard.
Siregar keeping moving, preventing Hamada from controlling successfully.
Siregar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hamada stopping the sweep attempt from Siregar.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Binsar Siregar will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A bone on bone clash there as Siregar blocks the leg kick.
Hamada throws out a powerful jab.
Siregar moves away from the strike by Hamada.
Hamada throws a nice looking combination but Siregar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Siregar throws out a counter right but Hamada avoids it with no problem.
Siregar closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Siregar is looking to clinch but Hamada is avoiding it.
Ryo Hamada is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hamada lands a two punch combo.
Some wild striking there from Hamada.
Hamada throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Siregar counters with an outside leg kick.

Siregar moves into the clinch.
Hamada wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Siregar goes for a takedown attempt but Hamada pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ryo Hamada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Siregar darts in trying to clinch
and Hamada counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hamada throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Siregar counters with a straight right hand.
Hamada misses with a two punch combination.
Nice straight punches there by Siregar. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Siregar.
Hamada throws a right and a left that Siregar avoids nicely.

Siregar closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hamada quickly recovers to half guard.
Binsar Siregar has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hamada keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Siregar is looking for a kimura but Hamada is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Siregar to get the leverage.
Siregar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hamada's head.
Siregar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Siregar in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Hamada tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Siregar!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Binsar Siregar!
During a confident post fight interview, Binsar Siregar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
