Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gopnik Skwat (ranked 5016 p4p, 19625 weight class) and Bartlomiej Jan (ranked 0 p4p, 556 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gopnik Skwat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 22 - 0, fighting out of London, Bartlomiej Jan!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skwat buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Skwat tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jan was well out of range. Poor timing from Skwat.

Jan feints and as Skwat raises his hands in defense, Jan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jan wants to pass the guard but Skwat is keeping the position.
Jan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Skwat is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jan content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Skwat utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Jan is looking to work some ground and pound but Skwat has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Skwat connects with the punch.

Jan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jan stays in close to Skwat's body and controls the position.
Skwat is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Skwat is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
An inside leg kick lands from Skwat.

Jan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Skwat on his heels. He'll look to pass Skwat's guard now, I'm sure.

Skwat is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Gronk Apes, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Skwat connects with an inside leg kick.

Jan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Skwat's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bartlomiej Jan has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Skwat's corner calls for a 1-2. Skwat obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Skwat throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jan on the side of the head.

and Jan counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Skwat.
Jan blocks an uppercut.
Skwat has a couple of punches blocked by Jan.
Skwat misses with a hook to the ribs.
Jan is working for takedown but Skwat is calmly controlling the position for now.
Skwat tries a body shot but Jan blocks it.
Skwat can't find room to land a body shot as Jan controls the action.

Jan is trying to trip Skwat. He has hold of a leg but Skwat is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jan persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Jan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Skwat looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jan tries to free his leg and advance position but Skwat is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Skwat with the inside leg kick.
Skwat scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jan doesn't seem bothered though.
Skwat lands with a cross.
Jan takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Skwat uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jan has time to react.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Skwat enables Jan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Skwat manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jan working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Jan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close second round but Bartlomiej Jan will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Skwat knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jan on the ground.
