Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Hobbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sidney Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Hobbs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sidney Gomez! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hobbs shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Gomez tries to lock up and control but Hobbs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Hobbs working the ground and pound effectively.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gomez taking shots to the head. Gomez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gomez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Hobbs looking to control and managing it successfully. Hobbs with good strikes from the mount here!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hobbs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Hobbs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hobbs connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Gomez taking shots to the head. Hobbs pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hobbs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Hobbs working the ground and pound effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobbs swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gomez is now in Hobbs's guard. A big mistake from Hobbs there, giving up the dominant position! Hobbs working a defensive guard but Gomez manages to pass into side control anyway.
Hobbs tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gomez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hobbs manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gomez's best efforts. Gomez is thwarting Hobbs's attempts to control the position. Gomez prevents Hobbs from standing back up.
Gomez thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hobbs controlling the position for now. Hobbs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hobbs is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Hobbs dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Hobbs blocks a jab. Gomez misses with a takedown attempt and Hobbs counters with a shoot takedown. Gomez fights it but they end up in guard. Gomez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hobbs working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gomez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hobbs works a leg free and moves into half guard. Hobbs is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Hobbs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gomez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hobbs seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Gomez is staying active underneath Hobbs, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hobbs performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Jay Hobbs just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Hobbs shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Hobbs thows a huge punch but Gomez dodges it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hobbs in particular looking to stall. Gomez trying to get back to full guard but Hobbs takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Hobbs is landing with some decent strikes but Gomez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Hobbs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Gomez is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hobbs is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Hobbs throws a series of punches but Gomez avoids them all with ease. Hobbs shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Hobbs pushing down on Gomez's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hobbs is keen to just control but Gomez is a slippery customer. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hobbs is stalling here. Gomez is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hobbs seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gomez has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Gomez decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hobbs to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Hobbs dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Hobbs shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Hobbs not landing any meaningful shots this time. Hobbs prevents Gomez from improving his position. Hobbs working over Gomez with some ground and pound. Gomez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Gomez looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hobbs trying to mount his opponent but Gomez defends it. Jay Hobbs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hobbs sitting and controlling from the half guard. Gomez keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Gomez tries to bench press Hobbs off him but Hobbs keeps the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobbs in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Gomez can't do much from the bottom here. Hobbs is trying to get an arm triangle but Gomez is defending well. Hobbs trying to control the action but Gomez is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. This fight is sponsored by Chainsaw 7. More blood and guts and stuff like that, in cinemas everywhere now! Gomez tries to bench press Hobbs off him but Hobbs keeps the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hobbs scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Sidney Gomez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jay Hobbs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hobbs blocks the strikes from Gomez.
And that's the end of the fight! Jay Hobbs showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hobbs, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
