Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yahir Petrov (ranked 5543 p4p, 5346 weight class) and Santos Resi (ranked 376 p4p, 366 weight class). Yahir Petrov could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Santos Resi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yahir Petrov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santos Resi! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Resi stuffs the takedown. Petrov tries to clinch there but Resi circles away.
Petrov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Petrov landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Resi can do anything to dispel that myth. Resi pushes Petrov off looking to stand but Petrov dives back in and keeps control.
Petrov stalling. Petrov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Resi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Resi is staying active underneath Petrov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrov stops Resi from getting back to his feet.
Resi is not content to let Petrov control the position. Resi is looking to get back to is feet but Petrov passes into side control.
Petrov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Resi is not content to let Petrov control the position. Petrov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Petrov tries for a kimura but Resi is defending well. Resi wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Petrov tries to stand but Resi is controlling his head. Resi is looking to get back to his feet here but Petrov is keeping cool and he's managed to take Resi's back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Resi is trying to stand back up. Petrov working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Resi is doing well to defend. Petrov seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Resi is forced to tap and this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Yahir Petrov!
