PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Loke Sabel (ranked 4573 p4p, 4891 weight class) and Richard Glass (ranked 525 p4p, 550 weight class). Richard Glass told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Loke Sabel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Richard Glass!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sabel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Glass avoids it really well and circles away.
Sabel seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Sabel avoids the body shot from Glass.
Glass on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Sabel throws a chopping leg kick but Glass manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Nice takedown defense from Glass. No joy for Sabel on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sabel has his takedown stuffed
and Glass counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Loke Sabel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Glass walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Sabel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Glass swivels and escapes.
A nice side step and Glass releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Sabel connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Sabel shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Sabel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Glass with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sabel lands a nice short elbow.
Glass is trying to stand up here but Sabel is controlling him well.

Glass has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Factory. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Glass has hold of Sabel's hands but Sabel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Sabel drops an elbow to the side of Glass's head.
Sabel slips a nice elbow through Glass's hands, connecting with Glass's forehead.
Glass wants to get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Sabel seems content to control.

Glass is rocked!
Sabel lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Glass quite badly. Glass pulls Sabel in close trying to recover. Sabel postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Glass on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Glass doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Loke Sabel!
