Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andrew Sackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marilo Rua! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sackson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rua tries to improve position but can't. Sackson controlling the position from side mount. Sackson has knee on belly momentarily but Rua bucks him off and regains half guard. Sackson wants to stand up but Rua is controlling the position.
Sackson wants to free his trapped foot but Rua is holding on for dear life with his legs. Sackson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Sackson throwing shots but Rua is blocking nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sackson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Rua to get to his feet. Rua looks gassed! Sackson shoots in for a takedown but Rua shows good takedown defense. Rua rushes Sackson and presses him up against the cage. Rua misses with a knee strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Rua just misses with a elbow thrown towards Sackson's brow. Sackson decides to pull guard. Sackson pulls Rua in close to prevent any damage. Rua is posturing up here but Sackson has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rua tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rua has to tap! Slick submission there by Sackson!
