PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Harris (ranked 3044 p4p, 3017 weight class) and Freddy Jupiter (ranked 360 p4p, 353 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Jupiter!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris misses with a jab, cross combination.
Harris throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Jupiter gets the takedown into side control.
Harris is looking to regain half guard here but Jupiter keeps moving and retains side control.
Jupiter cracks Harris with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Jupiter is looking to take a break and control but Harris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Harris manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jupiter's best efforts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jupiter is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Harris has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jupiter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Jupiter stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Harris gets caught napping as Jupiter dives in and scores a takedown. Harris manages to retain guard.

Jupiter is standing up over Harris. Harris looks to escape but Jupiter dives into side control.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jupiter holds on and takes a little breather.

A close round but Freddy Jupiter will probably get the nod.
That's time! Harris's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jupiter closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Harris's guard.

Jupiter gets to his feet. Harris looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Jupiter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Jupiter is looking to pass into half guard but Harris pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Harris is in guard.

Harris tries to free his leg and advance position but Jupiter is retaining full guard.
Harris has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jupiter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harris manages to get himself to full guard.


Jupiter gets to his feet - Harris follows without any prompting.

Jupiter shoots in and drives through. Harris sprawls well.
Harris shoots in looking for a takedown but Jupiter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Harris's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jupiter fails with a takedown attempt.

Jupiter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Jupiter is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Harris defends it well.

Freddy Jupiter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Harris rushes Jupiter and presses him up against the cage.

Jupiter has hold of one of Harris's legs. Harris is fighting the takedown attempt but Jupiter gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Jupiter won't allow Harris to sweep him here.
Harris is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jupiter is controlling him.

Jupiter works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Harris is staying active underneath Jupiter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Harris tries to kick Jupiter off but Jupiter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Jupiter pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Jupiter prevents Harris from getting the reversal.

Jupiter with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Harris wants to get back to his feet.

Jupiter is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Harris to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Harris shrugs it off.

Jupiter can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Harris is looking to escape.

Harris sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

I've got Jupiter winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
