PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Noeigati (ranked 947 p4p, 1479 weight class) and Aslak Maitonaama (ranked 126 p4p, 205 weight class). Noeigati comes to the cage accompanied by Cremation of Sam McGee. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Benjamin Noeigati!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aslak Maitonaama!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maitonaama darts in and clinches Noeigati up against the cage.
Maitonaama blocks an uppercut.
Noeigati tries to work over Maitonaama's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Noeigati throws a punch but it's blocked by Maitonaama.
Noeigati gets underhooks to prevent Maitonaama's takedown attempt.
A nice right hand lands inside from Noeigati.
Noeigati works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Maitonaama is trying to drag Noeigati to the mat but Noeigati just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Noeigati is pressed up against the cage. Maitonaama has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Noeigati down to the mat. Noeigati avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Benjamin Noeigati has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aslak Maitonaama.
Noeigati throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And Maitonaama tries to counter it with a takedown but Noeigati pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Maitonaama shoots for a double leg takedown but Noeigati sprawls well. He's pushed Maitonaama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Noeigati swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maitonaama shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Noeigati but Noeigati pushes him off and we're back to square one.
It looked like Noeigati was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Maitonaama.
Noeigati throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Noeigati scores with a hook to the body. Maitonaama takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Noeigati lands with a big right hook that stumbles Maitonaama - he's out on his feet here! Noeigati follows up with another monster hook that separates Maitonaama from consciousness! Maitonaama falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Noeigati stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
