Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grey Ape (ranked 916 p4p, 1564 weight class) and Chris Coryatt (ranked 123 p4p, 219 weight class). Coryatt has chosen Slim Thug - Welcome 2 Houston as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Grey Ape! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Coryatt! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coryatt lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Coryatt tries to bum rush Ape with a series of wild strikes but Ape uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Coryatt lands a lovely overhand right. A head kick from Coryatt lands but Ape takes it in his stride. Ape walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Ape has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Infamous Duranto Gym in the buildup to the fight. Ape looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Coryatt avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A looping hook to the body misses from Coryatt. Ape does a little dance to reset his feet. Coryatt ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Ape avoids the head kick by Coryatt.
Coryatt misses the shot to the body. Coryatt scores with a head kick.
This has been an exciting period of action! Coryatt pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Ape keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Coryatt. Ape takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Coryatt throws a shot from downtown. Ape moves away and avoids it. Ape fires out a quick counter leg kick but Coryatt just manages to avoid it. Coryatt misses with a wild body shot. Coryatt connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ape. Ape circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coryatt fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ape manages to avoid it. Ape uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Coryatt. Ape throws a quick counter head kick but Coryatt was just out of range. Coryatt's coach down at Tycoon Coaching & Sparring was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Coryatt's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Coryatt misses with a two punch combination.
Coryatt throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ape throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. A head kick misses from Ape. Ape backing away here, and Coryatt unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Ape tries to close the distance and clinch up but Coryatt swats him away and circles back towards the center. Coryatt throws a low kick, looking for Ape's leg but Ape calmly moves out of range. Ape on the wrong end of a nice jab. Ape checks a leg kick. Coryatt swats away the attempt to clinch by Ape. Ape walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Coryatt misses with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ape keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Ape slips a jab from Coryatt. Ape is looking to counter punch. Coryatt throws a lazy head kick and Ape counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Coryatt throws a big shot that misses. Ape looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Coryatt lands with a good body shot. Ape uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Coryatt.
Ape on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Coryatt looks to land a combination. Ape sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Coryatt throws a nice head kick!
Ape scores with the left hand. Coryatt knows he should have avoided that one. Ape jabbing away but nothing is landing. Ape checks a leg kick. Ape tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Chris Coryatt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A bone on bone clash there as Ape blocks the leg kick.
Ape bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coryatt throws an overhand right that lands on Ape's shoulder, as Ape tries to avoid the shot. Coryatt scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Ape slips a jab and a cross from Coryatt.
Ape looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Coryatt misses with an uppercut. Ape thinks about countering with a head kick. Coryatt misses with a lunging right hand
letting Ape counter with a right hand. Ape takes one on the button. Coryatt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ape displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Coryatt throws out the jab. Coryatt misses with a series of wild punches.
Coryatt throws a right hand that Ape ducks under and follows up with a left that Ape also avoids with ease. Ape throws a big counter combination but Coryatt scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Coryatt ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Ape checks a low kick from Coryatt. Coryatt jabs Ape to the body, keeping him at a distance. Ape checks the leg kick nicely there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coryatt looks to throw the jab but Ape is out of range. Coryatt throws an overhand right that lands on Ape's shoulder, as Ape tries to avoid the shot. This has been an exciting period of action! Coryatt misses with a jab to the body
enabling Ape to counter with a crisp jab. Coryatt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ape was well out of range. Poor timing from Coryatt. Coryatt throws a leg kick and Ape counters with a nice uppercut.
Coryatt is rocked! Coryatt fails to land with a series of punches.
Coryatt is still on wobbly legs! Can Ape finish him? Ape is looking to clinch. Coryatt looks to land a left hand but Ape moved out of range nicely. Ape looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Coryatt is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ape had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. Ape closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Ape lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Ape landing knees to the head.
A short right from Coryatt on the inside. Ape jerks Coryatt's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Coryatt drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Ape goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Ape because Coryatt was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Grey Ape! Our winner, Grey Ape, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
