Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Rocha (ranked 5524 p4p, 4563 weight class) and Ray Cartier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Rocha has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Rocha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Cartier! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cartier uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rocha.
And Cartier tries to counter it with a takedown but Rocha pushes his down on his head and steps out. Cartier looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Rocha has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cartier can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cartier seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. It looks like Cartier might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cartier trying to control the position from guard on top but Rocha is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cartier scoring with some ground and pound. That's two minutes gone in the round. Rocha is pushing down on Cartier's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cartier is fighting to maintain full guard but Rocha has managed to sneak the leg through. Rocha wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cartier keeps working. Cartier flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Rocha has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rocha looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rocha wants to take Cartier's back but he can't do it this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cartier tries to hold on but Rocha postures up. Rocha trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rocha goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cartier turns into him and now he's in Rocha's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cartier keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rocha's head. Cartier stands and throws Rocha's legs to the side, diving into side control. Cartier working away. Rocha is not in a great position here, taking some shots. And that is the end of the round. Ray Cartier dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Rocha motions for Cartier to come forward. Rocha throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Rocha misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cartier.
Cartier changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Some bone on bone action there as Cartier checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Cartier shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Ray Cartier has got the better of the ground game so far. Cartier is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rocha sees it coming and defends easily. Rocha is not content to let Cartier control the position. Cartier is working for a submission of some sort.

Cartier has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rocha tries to get to full guard but Cartier has control of the leg. Cartier scoring with strikes to the body and head. Cartier is stalling in the full guard. Rocha tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cartier postures up and lands a big shot to Rocha's brow. Cartier postures up.
Cartier not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cartier working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rocha's head. Cartier lands a couple of elbows. Cartier with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Rocha is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cartier defends well. Cartier tries to free his leg and advance position but Rocha is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cartier looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Rocha keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rocha taking some punishment here, with Cartier in his half guard. Cartier is trying to control. Rocha wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Cartier with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Let's hope that Cartier has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Cartier working the head and body with strikes. Ray Cartier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round! Rocha swings for the body but Cartier moves out of range.
Cartier closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Cartier working the ground and pound from side control. Cartier cracks Rocha with a big elbow. Cartier scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rocha to see if he's OK. Cartier landing a few strikes. Cartier creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Rocha takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Rocha is rocked! Rocha tries to buck Cartier off but Cartier is having none of it. Oh Rocha is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Cartier in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Cartier is looking to take a break and control but Rocha is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cartier is chipping away with strikes.
Cartier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rocha. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rocha seems a little lost for a moment, as Cartier dominates the positioning. Cartier goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rocha has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cartier but great work by Rocha. Rocha seems to have got his legs back now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cartier can do anything to dispel that myth. Cartier is looking to regain half guard here but Rocha keeps moving and retains side control. Cartier sneaks back into half guard. Cartier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Rocha is trying to control the action in half guard but Cartier is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Rocha is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cartier defends it well. Rocha prevents Cartier from improving his position.

Cartier wants to sweep here but Rocha controlling him for the moment. Rocha wants to pass the guard but Cartier is keeping the position. Rocha passes Cartier's left leg - he's now in half guard. Cartier is trying to stand up here but Rocha is controlling him well. Cartier is looking to control Rocha's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cartier avoid being mounted? Cartier tries to roll over but Rocha keeps him under control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rocha takes a swing at Cartier's ribcage but misses. Cartier feints the counter takedown. Rocha swings for the body but Cartier moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rocha throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Nice work. Ray Cartier is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Rocha being controlled here, momentarily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cartier won't allow Rocha to sweep him here. Cartier has gone for a leg lock! Rocha slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cartier's guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Ray Cartier comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Cartier winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
