Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roy Gaston (ranked 5585 p4p, 4429 weight class) and Daniel Pawlikowski (ranked 617 p4p, 554 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gaston might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to You Can Do It. Roy Gaston could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Daniel Pawlikowski's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 18 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roy Gaston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Pawlikowski! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gaston avoids the body shot from Pawlikowski.
Gaston's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pawlikowski under the eye. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pawlikowski has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Gaston keeps Pawlikowski at a distance using the push kick. Pawlikowski darts in and clinches Gaston up against the cage. A right hand to the body from Gaston.
Pawlikowski turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pawlikowski manages to end up in side control. Gaston regains half guard. Pawlikowski is thwarting Gaston's attempts to control the position. Pawlikowski is looking for a kimura but Gaston is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pawlikowski to get the leverage. Pawlikowski is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gaston defends it well. Pawlikowski lands with a punch from half guard.

Pawlikowski is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gaston is controlling Pawlikowski's position as best he can from this difficult position. We've been hearing good reports from Gaston's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gaston showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pawlikowski.
Gaston was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Gaston tests Pawlikowski's chin there with a solid looking shot. Gaston moves out of range as Pawlikowski throws a body kick.
It looked like Gaston wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pawlikowski on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Pawlikowski closes the distance and clinches. A short right from Gaston on the inside. Gaston taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Pawlikowski wants to get back to striking at distance but Gaston won't allow it.

Pawlikowski tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gaston avoids it. Gaston lands an elbow that stopped Pawlikowski in his tracks for a moment. Pawlikowski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gaston uses from the top position. Pawlikowski is trying to maintain the position but Gaston is very close to passing his half guard. Gaston seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pawlikowski does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gaston trying to control the pace.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Roy Gaston will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Gaston swings for the body but Pawlikowski moves out of range.
Pawlikowski replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Gaston blocks it well. A left lands for Gaston. Gaston throws a leg kick which misses Pawlikowski's front leg but catches the back leg as Pawlikowski tries to avoid it. Daniel Pawlikowski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Pawlikowski has managed to clinch.
Pawlikowski is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gaston can't fight it off and eventually Pawlikowski manages to take the fight to the floor. Gaston looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Gaston seems keen to control Pawlikowski's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gaston controls Pawlikowski momentarily but Pawlikowski frees himself. Gaston has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Gaston is fighting to maintain full guard but Pawlikowski has managed to sneak the leg through. Pawlikowski working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Pawlikowski is stalling here. Gaston is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pawlikowski seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gaston has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. That's two minutes gone in the round. Pawlikowski has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gaston finds it's way round the side to connect with Pawlikowski's head. Gaston scores with a spinning back kick! Gaston blocks a head kick by Pawlikowski.
Daniel Pawlikowski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pawlikowski lands a jab. Pawlikowski misses with a kick to the body and Gaston counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pawlikowski's knee momentarily. Pawlikowski takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Gaston throws a body punch but Pawlikowski moves out of range. Gaston tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pawlikowski was well out of range. Poor timing from Gaston. Pawlikowski has closed the distance and engaged Gaston in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pawlikowski lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Pawlikowski postures up in Gaston's guard and throws a big left but Gaston blocks it. Pawlikowski postures up.
Gaston has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pawlikowski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gaston will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Pawlikowski is fighting to break Gaston's control of his arms but Gaston is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Pawlikowski looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pawlikowski wants to stand but Gaston is controlling his posture from full guard. Daniel Pawlikowski has got the better of the ground game so far. Gaston not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gaston works the jab nicely. Pawlikowski chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gaston can pounce on him.
Gaston is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Gaston throws a big shot that misses. Gaston throws a nice head kick!

Gaston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pawlikowski swivels though and keeps the full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Pawlikowski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Pawlikowski has Gaston up against the cage in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gaston is stalling here.

Gaston lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Gaston displaying some good clinch control by pressing Pawlikowski up against the cage. Pawlikowski jumps guard and drags Gaston to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Gaston postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gaston trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Pawlikowski is trying to keep Gaston in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gaston goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Pawlikowski lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Pawlikowski moves into the clinch. Gaston using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Pawlikowski takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Gaston lands a body punch in the clinch. Gaston is leaning against Pawlikowski and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. A right hook to the body lands for Gaston.
