Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hiroshi Gomi (ranked 4073 p4p, 2606 weight class) and Derek Blueboy (ranked 0 p4p, 164 weight class). Gomi comes to the cage accompanied by The Only Thing They Fear is You- DOOM Eternal OST. Hiroshi Gomi looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derek Blueboy!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blueboy misses with the body kick
enabling Gomi to counter with a crisp jab.
Blueboy tries a head kick but it misses.
Blueboy wants to clinch but Gomi slips to the side
and Gomi counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Blueboy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gomi counters with a straight right hand.

Gomi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Blueboy connects with a single shot there.

Hiroshi Gomi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Gomi counters with a nice uppercut.

Gomi is looking to stand up but Blueboy isn't so interested in that idea.

Gomi is trying to stand up here but Blueboy is controlling him well.
Gomi has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Blueboy is on him like a limpet, forcing Gomi back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Blueboy is trying to pull guard but Gomi turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gomi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gomi throws a combination. Blueboy tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Blueboy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Blueboy tries for a takedown but Gomi circles away easily
enabling Gomi to counter with a crisp jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blueboy is defended easily by Gomi.
As Blueboy looks to move away, Gomi throws a big counter combo but Blueboy just gets out of the way.
Blueboy tries to clinch but Gomi is having none of it.

and Blueboy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Gomi drops Blueboy with a beautiful combination! Blueboy stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gomi is looking for the KO!
Blueboy is still on wobbly legs! Can Gomi finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Gomi counters with a huge left! Blueboy is in big trouble! He's backing up but Gomi isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Blueboy from any more damage. A dominating finish by Gomi!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hiroshi Gomi!
A relieved looking Hiroshi Gomi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
