This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 37 wins and 25 losses; Jackson Ramirez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 26 losses; Strega Notturna! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Notturna throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ramirez's waist but Ramirez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Notturna off to one side. Ramirez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Notturna sprawls well. Notturna wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ramirez gets slowly back to his feet. Nice takedown defense from Notturna. No joy for Ramirez on that attempt. Notturna dives in and scores a takedown into Ramirez's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ramirez (0) vs (2) Notturna Notturna content to stall in guard here. Notturna wants to control from the top but Ramirez keeps moving. Notturna is fighting to break Ramirez's control of his arms but Ramirez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Notturna has gone for a leg lock! Ramirez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Notturna's guard. Ramirez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ramirez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Notturna looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ramirez passes into half guard.
Notturna is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ramirez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ramirez's back! Notturna is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez trying to control the action but Notturna just sinks the hooks in. Ramirez defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Notturna's arms. Notturna working for a choke but Ramirez reverses nicely into Notturna 's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Ramirez (4) vs (6) Notturna Ramirez postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Notturna is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Notturna wants to sweep but no luck. Notturna is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Ramirez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Notturna sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Ramirez preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Notturna wants to pass to mount but Ramirez is defending the position. Notturna seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ramirez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Notturna seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Notturna is looking for a kimura here.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Notturna is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Notturna seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ramirez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Ramirez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Notturna controlling from the top position.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Ramirez looking for a sweep. Not yet Ramirez, not yet. Notturna wants to control from the top but Ramirez keeps moving. Notturna slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Let's hope that Notturna has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Notturna wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ramirez keeps working. Notturna passes to full mount! That's ten minutes gone in the round. Ramirez controls the position. Notturna controlling the pace for now. Notturna trying to control but Ramirez is having none of it. Ramirez is desperately trying to improve his position but Notturna has a good base and remains in mount. Ramirez prevents Notturna from taking his back.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Notturna controlling the position easily from mount. Ramirez tries to get back to half guard but can't. My spies in MMA Training and Sparring Buddies inform me that Notturna has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Notturna is working for a guillotine from mount but Ramirez frees his head quite easily.
Ramirez tries to lock up and control but Notturna gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Ramirez holds on for dear life. Notturna jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ramirez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ramirez and Notturna has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Notturna not doing much here.
