Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cactus Jack (ranked 3587 p4p, 2961 weight class) and Trevor Gully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gully is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by E G G (JUMBO GRADE A CARTON OF MELODY). Cactus Jack has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Cactus Jack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trevor Gully!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jack misses with a two punch combination.
Gully has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Nice cross by Jack.
Gully shoots in for a takedown but Jack shows good takedown defense.

Gully closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jack to the mat! Jack manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Jack manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gully manages to get himself to full guard.

Jack has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jack lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Jack is looking for a kimura but Gully is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jack to get the leverage.
Jack will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jack winds up and cracks Gully with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Gully has hold of Jack's hands but Jack slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Gully is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Gully is staying active underneath Jack, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Gully is defending against the submission attempts here by Jack.

Gully is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jack defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jack got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gully has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jack has managed to get both his arms back between Gully's legs - danger averted.
Jack tries to free his leg and advance position but Gully is retaining full guard.
Jack keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gully's head.
Jack wants to pass the guard but Gully is keeping the position.

Gully looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jack manages to get to full guard.
Jack seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jack keeping moving, preventing Gully from controlling successfully.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jack here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jack had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gully defends it easily.
Jack pulls Gully in close to his closed guard and prevents Gully from doing any damage or advancing position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That's time! Jack's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Gully dives in and grabs Jack's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jack pushes down on Gully's head and hops out.

Jack turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jack manages to end up in side control.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Gully stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jack swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jack seems keen to control Gully's posture.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jack not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jack closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gully manages to get to full guard.

Gully working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jack doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jack manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well Jack has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
