PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bj Penncil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miles DAvis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DAvis has chosen Miles DAvis - someday my prince will come as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Bj Penncil has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bj Penncil !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miles DAvis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Penncil . No joy for DAvis on that attempt.

DAvis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

DAvis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Penncil is just riding it out for now. DAvis eventually gives up the hold.
DAvis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

DAvis is looking for a kimura but Penncil is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for DAvis to get the leverage.

Penncil is defending against the submission attempts here by DAvis.
Penncil is trying to stand up here but DAvis is controlling him well.

DAvis wants to work for an arm triangle but Penncil is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

DAvis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penncil , who protects the arm well.

Penncil is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but DAvis has just dragged him back down to the mat.

DAvis taking a break here but Penncil is having none of it and regains half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Miles DAvis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Miles DAvis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

DAvis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Penncil tries to avoid it but DAvis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Penncil to the ground. Penncil escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
DAvis is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Horrible takedown by DAvis or perhaps it was just good defense by Penncil which made him look bad.
Penncil will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Penncil misses with a jab, cross combination.
Penncil lands a jab-cross combination.
DAvis is looking to clinch but Penncil is avoiding it.
Penncil throws a combination but it was largely blocked by DAvis.
Penncil tries to bum rush DAvis with a series of wild strikes but DAvis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

DAvis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
DAvis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by DAvis or perhaps it was just good defense by Penncil which made him look bad.

Penncil throws a combination but it was largely blocked by DAvis.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
DAvis shoots for a takedown but Penncil saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Miles DAvis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think DAvis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
