PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24135 p4p, 24092 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 34 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 29 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Buut changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Buktot looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Buktot is trying to control Buut's posture but Buut avoids it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Buut throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Buktot's waist but Buktot gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Buut off to one side.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Buut closes this distance looking for a takedown but Buktot circles away.

That was a close round but I would say that Dawindi Buktot will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Walay Buut showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Buktot fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buut avoids it really well and circles away.

Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Buut, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Buktot throws a counter high kick but Buut was just alert enough to avoid it.

Nice takedown defense from Buktot. No joy for Buut on that attempt.
Buut looks for a takedown but Buktot sprawls well.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.

Buut shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Buut wants to take a breather but Buktot is having none of it.

Buktot is looking to control Buut's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Buktot avoid being mounted?

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dawindi Buktot.
I think Buktot has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
