And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dharya Bhate!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bhate misses with an uppercut. James saw that one coming.
James half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Bhate throws a body shot but no joy.
James swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Bhate just misses with a punch to the body.
James appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
James slips under a jab from Bhate.
James drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bhate sprawls and moves away.
Bhate throws a body shot but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bhate throws a body shot but no joy.
A little feinted left hand from James on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
A big left from Bhate misses.
Bhate throws a jab when James was well out of range.

Bhate lands with a shot to the body.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bhate.
Dharya Bhate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bhate misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from James.
James tries to counter with a takedown but Bhate is quick to defend against it.
Bhate scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. James doesn't seem bothered though.
Bhate throws a body punch but James moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bhate. James does a little dance to reset his feet.
James throwing a counter right hand but Bhate manages to avoid it.
Bhate throws the left hand but James avoids the punch easily.

Bhate shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bhate was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
James is looking to reverse the position.

Bhate has hold of James's arm. He's looking for a kimura. James seems comfortable defending it but Bhate has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! James is real pain and he's forced to tap out! James is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bhate couldn't care less - he's delighted!
