PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vic Romano (ranked 1420 p4p, 3274 weight class) and Pete Sirah (ranked 187 p4p, 373 weight class). Romano comes to the cage accompanied by MXC Most Extreme Challenge . Pete Sirah is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vic Romano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Sirah!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sirah throws a leg kick but Romano sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Romano fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sirah manages to avoid it.
Romano misses the shot to the body.
Sirah has his takedown stuffed
and Romano counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Romano moves forwards but Sirah connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Romano lands with an uppercut that bounces Sirah off the cage and back into range.

Sirah is rocked!
Sirah moves in looking to clinch but Romano pushes him off.
Sirah is still on wobbly legs! Can Romano finish him?

Sirah looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Romano!
Sirah seems to have recovered his senses.
Romano prevents Sirah from improving position.
Romano struggling a bit here.
Romano is looking for a sweep.
The referee asks Sirah politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sirah prefers to stall for the moment though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Romano manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Romano gets back to full guard.
Romano avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sirah postures up.
Romano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sirah trying to control the position from guard on top but Romano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sirah postures up in Romano's guard and throws a big left but Romano blocks it.
Romano tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sirah pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Romano is keeping the position for now.
Sirah won't allow Romano to sweep him here.
Romano preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Romano is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Romano is nestled in close to Sirah, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sirah on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Romano wants to pass to mount but Sirah is defending the position.

Sirah regains full guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sirah controls Romano momentarily but Romano frees himself.
Romano lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Our spies down at at K.O MMA inform us that Sirah has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Sirah working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Romano has passed into half guard!
Romano has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Romano slips a nice elbow through Sirah's hands, connecting with Sirah's forehead.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Romano connects with a nice short shot to Sirah's temple.

Romano winds up and cracks Sirah with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Romano slips a nice elbow through Sirah's hands, connecting with Sirah's forehead.
Sirah has hold of Romano's hands but Romano slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Romano lands with a punch from half guard.
Romano scores with a big shot! Sirah's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Sirah! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vic Romano!
After winning the bout, Vic Romano thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
