Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Miocic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kristian Baunegaard!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miocic shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Baunegaard's guard.
Miocic postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Baunegaard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miocic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Baunegaard is trying to keep Miocic in close.
Miocic is pushing down on Baunegaard's leg trying to pass to half guard. Baunegaard is fighting to maintain full guard but Miocic has managed to sneak the leg through.
Miocic perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Miocic passes to side control.
A lull in the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miocic has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Miocic looks up at the clock and then as Baunegaard takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Miocic smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Miocic has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Baunegaard stops Miocic from passing to mount.
Miocic has hold of Baunegaard's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Baunegaard tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Miocic cranks the arm and Baunegaard screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Baunegaard, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jon Miocic!
