PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Skog (ranked 2524 p4p, 3216 weight class) and Jiuberto Guibson (ranked 346 p4p, 418 weight class). Skog comes to the cage accompanied by Another One Bites the Dust - Queen. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Skog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jiuberto Guibson!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guibson swings widly with a right hand
enabling Skog to counter with a crisp jab.
Skog steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Guibson.
Guibson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Skog misses with a series of wild punches.
Skog thows a left - swing and a miss!
A decent looking cross lands there for Guibson.
Skog lands with a shot to the body.

Guibson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Skog, pushing him back against the cage.

Guibson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Guibson is looking to clinch but Skog is avoiding it.
Skog seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Skog's jab looks to have found its range, popping Guibson under the eye.
Skog jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Skog scores with the left hand. Guibson knows he should have avoided that one.

Guibson gets a clinch.
Skog throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Skog lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Guibson is trying to pull guard but Skog turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Skog throws an elbow but it misses.

Guibson gets control of Skog's arms and successfully pulls guard. Guibson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Skog avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guibson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Skog doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Skog manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Skog seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Skog is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jiuberto Guibson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Guibson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Skog gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Skog throws an overhand right that lands on Guibson's shoulder, as Guibson tries to avoid the shot.
Guibson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Guibson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Skog gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Guibson missing with a left hand there. Skog was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A quick step to the side and Skog tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Guibson misses with an uppercut. Skog saw that one coming.
Skog takes a swing at Guibson's ribcage but misses.
Guibson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Skog back to the cage. Guibson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Gunnar Skog has been cut.

Guibson tries to clinch up but Skog circles away and keeps his distance.

Skog is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Skog fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Guibson manages to avoid it.

Skog walks into a stiff left hand from Guibson.

Guibson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Skog lands a body shot.
Skog gets through Guibson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Guibson is still on wobbly legs! Can Skog finish him?
Skog pushes Guibson against the cage. Skog is working some dirty boxing. Skog pushes off with a quick right hook! Guibson goes down! Guibson tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Skog moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
