Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Korolev (ranked 1593 p4p, 682 weight class) and Gerrad Skolz (ranked 214 p4p, 86 weight class). Korolev comes to the cage accompanied by Holding Out For A Hero (EuroMash). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skolz throws a big shot that misses.

Korolev has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Quarry in the buildup to the fight.
Skolz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Korolev sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Korolev stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Skolz.
Korolev gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Korolev takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Skolz feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Korolevs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Gerrad Skolz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Skolz throws a series of punches but Korolev moves out of range.
Skolz closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Skolz misses with a few strikes there.
Skolz avoids a kick to the body.
Skolz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Skolz throws a predictable looking body shot
and Korolev makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Skolz really felt that one!
Korolev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Skolz moves away.
Skolz uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Korolev.
Skolz misses with a lunging right hand
and Korolev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Skolz misses the jab.
A lazy left from Skolz finds it's target.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Skolz crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Korolev - the referee stops the clock and Skolz gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Korolev. Skolz manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Korolev takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Skolz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Korolev counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Korolev cracks Skolz with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Korolev has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Skolz to stand back up!
Skolz is rocked!
It looks like Gerrad Skolz has been cut.
Korolev on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Korolev feints and then cracks Skolz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Skolz down.
Skolz shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Korolev eats them both and turns towards Skolz to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Skolz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Korolev moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Korolev tries to land a front kick but Skolz steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Korolev is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Korolev takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Korolev counters with a nice right hand that sends Skolz toppling to the canvas! Skolz scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Korolev finish him?!
Skolz is still on wobbly legs! Can Korolev finish him?
Skolz lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Korolev fakes the body blow, causing Skolz to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Skolz goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

A relieved looking Alexander Korolev thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
