Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Epo Vehikolja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tufai Yold! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yold misses the jab. Nice defenses there by Vehikolja. Yold swings for the body but Vehikolja moves out of range.
Vehikolja shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Vehikolja is working for a submission of some sort.
Vehikolja is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Yold sees it coming and defends easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vehikolja seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yold does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Yold won't allow Vehikolja to pass to mount. Vehikolja moves into full mount! Yold won't be happy about that! Vehikolja wants to control the pace but Yold is squirming around nicely. Vehikolja is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Yold has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vehikolja can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Yold is looking to escape. Vehikolja looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vehikolja looking to isolate an arm here. Yold doesn't see it coming and as Vehikolja extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Vehikolja!
