The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by del Mexico. Johnson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, del Mexico asserts his dominance and retains side control. del Mexico connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Johnson some visible discomfort.
Johnson on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Johnson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! del Mexico landing a few strikes. Johnson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Johnson is not content to let del Mexico control the position. del Mexico scoring with punches from side control. del Mexico lands some shots froms side control. Johnson on the wrong end of some ground and pound. del Mexico has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. del Mexico is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Johnson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, del Mexico asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Johnson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. del Mexico yanks on the arm and Johnson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission!
