Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jumpin Jahosafat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 40 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mark Kerr! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kerr drives through with a takedown into Jahosafat's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Kerr engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Kerr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kerr passes into half guard. Kerr looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Jahosafat tries to roll over but Kerr keeps him under control. Kerr wants to pass to mount but Jahosafat is defending the position. Kerr not landing any meaningful shots this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jahosafat tries to roll over but Kerr keeps him under control. Jahosafat trying to control from the bottom.
Kerr lands strikes from half guard. Jahosafat is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kerr scores with a couple of nice shots.
It looks like Jumpin Jahosafat has been cut. Kerr slips a nice elbow through Jahosafat's hands, connecting with Jahosafat's forehead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kerr passes to side control. Jahosafat is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kerr asserts his dominance and retains side control. Kerr tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kerr has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Kerr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jahosafat keeps working. Jahosafat takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Jahosafat misses with a strike from the bottom. Kerr creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Jahosafat is rocked! Jahosafat is looking to regain half guard here but Kerr keeps moving and retains side control. Oh Jahosafat is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Jahosafat on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jahosafat tries to get out of the position. Kerr wants to control but Jahosafat is keeping him busy. Jahosafat is looking to reverse the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big shot lands for Kerr! That's hurt Jahosafat! Will he recover? Kerr fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Kerr! Mark Kerr decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
