The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Archer gets caught flat footed, as Trump shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Archer (0) vs (2) Trump Archer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Trump's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Archer (2) vs (2) Trump Archer wants to pass the guard but Trump is keeping the position. Archer has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Trump wants to sweep here but Archer controlling him for the moment. Archer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trump swivels though and keeps the full guard. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Trump gets back to half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Trump defends it well. Trump is looking for a sweep. Archer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Archer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Archer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Archer tries to advance to mount but Trump denies him. Archer wants to control but Trump is keeping him busy. Trump is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Archer seems to be looking for submissions.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Trump is not content to let Archer control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Archer takes the fight on points by 13 to 4. Able Archer decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well. |
