And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McFarlane moves into the clinch.

McFarlane is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

McFarlane wants to get up but he can't break Turmarrov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Still in half guard, McFarlane seems content to control.
McFarlane is keen to just control but Turmarrov is a slippery customer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Turmarrov is looking to improve his position.
McFarlane slips a nice elbow through Turmarrov's hands, connecting with Turmarrov's forehead.
McFarlane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Turmarrov wants to control but McFarlane is keeping busy.
McFarlane scoring with strikes to the body and head.

McFarlane wants to work for an arm triangle but Turmarrov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McFarlane winds up and cracks Turmarrov with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McFarlane can do anything to dispel that myth.
McFarlane tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Turmarrov presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
McFarlane tries to lock up and control but Turmarrov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Turmarrov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McFarlane is looking to escape.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. McFarlane looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Turmarrov! Submission of the night perhaps?
