This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; CJ Walton! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Crane changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Walton tries to avoid it but Crane manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Walton to the ground. Walton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Walton tries to counter by closing the distance. Crane scores with a takedown into Walton's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Crane (2) vs (0) Walton Crane pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walton is keeping the position for now. Walton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Crane defends it easily. Walton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crane engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Crane pushing down on Walton's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walton is not content to let Crane control the position. Crane is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Walton is just riding it out for now. Crane eventually gives up the hold. Crane is trying to control. Walton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Walton wants to get back to full guard but Crane has mounted him! Score +3 for passing guard: Crane (5) vs (0) Walton Crane looking to control but Walton is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Walton is in all sorts of trouble here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walton can do anything to dispel that myth. Crane is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Walton has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Walton is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Crane has taken his back.
Score +3 for taking back: Crane (8) vs (0) Walton Crane not allowing Walton to control his hands. Walton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Crane is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Walton with him. Walton is trying to defend but Crane has an arm under the chin now! Walton grimaces and is forced to tap out!
