This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Gordon Ryan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Bob Babcock!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Ryan tries to keep at a distance but Babcock has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ryan jumps guard but Babcock turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Ryan tries for a takedown. No joy.

Ryan jumps into guard, dragging Babcock to the mat.
Babcock must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Babcock sitting in guard here, content to control.

Babcock drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Babcock jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Ryan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ryan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Babcock controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Babcock wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.

Ryan keeping moving, preventing Babcock from controlling successfully.
Babcock might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ryan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Ryan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ryan is looking for a triangle but Babcock pushes his legs off easily.
Babcock trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ryan working a defensive guard but Babcock passes into half guard.
Ryan is trying to get back to full guard.

Babcock is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Babcock with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Babcock is thwarting Ryan's attempts to control the position.

Babcock is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Babcock is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ryan is just riding it out for now. Babcock eventually gives up the hold.

Babcock taking a breather but there's no such thing in a fight! Ryan has locked on to a kimura from the bottom - he uses it to sweep and is now looking to finish from the top position! He's got it! Babcock has tapped! Great work by Ryan! Lay and pray doesn't pay, kids! Just remember, you heard it here first.
