This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 30 wins and 18 losses; Wilhelm Bar! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Bar gets tackled into the cage by Chai. Chai maintains the clinch. Bar has picked Chai up - he's going for a ride! Bar dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Bar sitting and controlling from the half guard. Let's hope that Bar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chai trying to get back to full guard but Bar takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Chai is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bar is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Chai regains half guard. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Chai wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. That's ten minutes gone in the round. Chai engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Chai pushing down on Bar's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Bar is refusing to be controlled, as Chai sits in half guard. Bar won't allow Chai to pass to mount. Chai takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Chai tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bar knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bar is trying to maintain the position but Chai is very close to passing his half guard. Bar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Bar trying to control the position here. Chai wants to pass the guard but Bar is keeping the position. Chai is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Chai preventing the sweep. Bar keeping moving, preventing Chai from controlling successfully. Bar tries to land a sweep but no joy. Chai sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Bar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chai trying to control the position from guard on top but Bar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
