This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Blue River ! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Montgomery Scott! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Scott tries for a takedown but River circles away easily and River counters by moving into the clinch. Scott jumps guard but River turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. River turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and River manages to end up in side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: River (4) vs (0) Scott Scott regains half guard. Scott keeping control of the position. Scott trying to control here.
River definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott looking for submissions from an awkward position here. River knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scott on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott is looking for a sweep. River is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Scott is pressing down on River 's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. River pushes down on Scott's leg and manages to get into half guard. River is taking a breather. Scott says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Scott is trying is best to control the position here. River is looking for a kimura but Scott is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for River to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott is pressing down on River 's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. River controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Scott controlling the position. Scott is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! River rolls with it to try and escape but Scott cranks on the arm and River is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
