Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alfie Shade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Wiet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Wiet will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Alfie Shade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Wiet!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shade misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wiet shoots in looking for a takedown. Shade tries to sprawl out of it but Wiet keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shade manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wiet misses with the combination.
Wiet shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shade as he jumps to the side.
Wiet fails with a takedown attempt.
Alfie Shade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Wiet.
Shade displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wiet.
Wiet fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wiet lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shade tries to keep at a distance but Wiet has taken the fight into the clinch.
Shade is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Wiet connects with a nasty looking knee right to Shade's face.
Wiet throws a knee to the head but misses.

Shade has Wiet pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Shade pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wiet tumbling to the mat - Shade dives into Wiet's guard.
Shade trying to control but Wiet is working from the bottom.

Shade trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shade stays in close to Wiet's body and controls the position.
Shade's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Wiet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shade. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shade content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Shade throws a big right hand that misses.
Wiet wants to stand but Shade is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Shade sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wiet's guard.
Shade thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wiet keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Wiet is trying to stand up here but Shade is controlling him well.
Shade trying to mount his opponent but Wiet defends it.
Wiet is trying to control but can't.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Shade shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Shade is trying to work for a kimura but Wiet is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wiet tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Wiet is looking to escape.
Shade is looking to advance position but Wiet won't allow it.
Wiet misses with some strikes from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Shade not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Shade sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wiet defending well though.
Shade seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wiet does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Wiet clinches up against the cage.

Wiet breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Shade drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Shade is breathing heavily.
Shade trying to control but Wiet is working from the bottom.
Shade prevents Wiet from getting back to his feet.
Shade throwing strikes from guard but Wiet blocks nicely.
Shade with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alfie Shade dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Wiet gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Shade has had enough of the clinch but Wiet keeps him there for the moment.
Wiet lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Shade gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Shade looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Shade sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wiet defending well though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shade seems to be working for a kimura but Wiet defends the submission attempt.
Shade passes to full mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shade looking to ground and pound but Wiet is blocking nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shade controlling his opponent.
Wiet is wriggling around trying to escape.
Wiet wants to try and get back to his feet.
Shade sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Shade scoring with strikes but Wiet is staying in there.
Shade won't let Wiet get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Shade fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Shade working for a guillotine from mount but Wiet is in no mood to give up.
Wiet is squirming around, avoiding Shade's attempts to control the action.
Wiet tries to buck Shade off but he can't manage it.
Shade tries to control but Wiet wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shade throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Shade goes for an armbar but Wiet turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Wiet.

Wiet gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A slapping leg kick lands for Wiet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Shade tries to keep at a distance but Wiet has taken the fight into the clinch.

Wiet breaks from the clinch.

Wiet decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Shade is not content to let Wiet control the position.
Shade is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shade scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Wiet manages to mount him!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Mike Wiet will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Wiet stuffs the takedown attempt from Shade. Shade gets slowly back to his feet.
Shade shoots in for a takedown but Wiet shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shade swats away the attempt to clinch by Wiet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wiet looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wiet throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shade fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wiet displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shade.

Wiet tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wiet tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shade swivels and escapes.

and Shade counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shade.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wiet controls Shade momentarily but Shade frees himself.

Shade drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wiet dives on top into guard.
Shade avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wiet wants to stand but Shade has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Shade is trying to keep Wiet in close.
Wiet wants to control from the top but Shade keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wiet is looking to stand up but Shade won't let him.
Shade keeping moving, preventing Wiet from controlling successfully.
Shade is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Shade fails with the takedown

and Wiet counters by clinching up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shade tries to pull guard but Wiet holds him up against the cage and eventually Shade drops back down to his feet.

Wiet breaks the clinch.

Wiet rushes Shade and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Wiet escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A nice inside leg kick there by Wiet. That's going to slow Shade down.
Wiet lands a high kick!
Wiet lands a head kick!
Mike Wiet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wiet gets a takedown into half guard.
Shade is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shade is not content to let Wiet control the position.
Shade regains full guard. Nicely done.
Shade is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Shade throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Wiet is looking to stand up but Shade won't let him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Wiet comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wiet has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
