Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 88 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 81 - 23 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Fighter B shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Fighter B stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fighter A swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fighter B controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Fighter A is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fighter A holds on and takes a little breather. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fighter B postures up.
Fighter A working a defensive guard but Fighter B passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter B controlling the action here. Fighter A desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Fighter A darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter B gets double underhooks and turns Fighter A into the cage. Fighter B counters with a body kick. Fighter A is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Fighter B is defending well. Fighter A prevents the takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Fighter B breaks the clinch.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown but Fighter B shows good takedown defense. Fighter B feints a counter leg kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice takedown defense from Fighter B. No joy for Fighter A on that attempt. Fighter B thinks about the counter body kick. Fighter A shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fighter B but Fighter B pushes him off and we're back to square one. Fighter B is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter B stuffs the takedown. Fighter B just misses with a punch to the body.
Fighter A shoots for a double leg takedown but Fighter B sprawls well. He's pushed Fighter A's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Fighter A throws a leg kick and Fighter B counters with a nice double leg into guard. Fighter A is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fighter B won't allow Fighter A to sweep him here. Fighter B content to stall in guard here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! It looks like Fighter B might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Xxx Xxx dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Fighter A throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Fighter B counters with a body kick. Fighter A shoots for a double leg takedown but Fighter B sprawls well. He's pushed Fighter A's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Fighter B shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fighter B showed some decent athleticism there. Fighter B seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter A gets full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Fighter B controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Fighter B loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Fighter B looks to score with a jab to the body but Fighter A is just out of range. Fighter A tries to counter with a takedown but Fighter B is quick to defend against it. Fighter B closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fighter A did well to prevent Fighter B getting side control. Fighter A manages to escape and get back to his feet! Fighter B stuffs the takedown attempt from Fighter A. Fighter A gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter A looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Fighter B is trying to counter with his kicks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fighter B closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fighter B controlling the action here. Fighter A gets full guard. Fighter A managing to control the position. Fighter B controls from within his opponent's guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Xxx Xxx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round! No luck for Fighter A with that takedown attempt. Fighter A with a lazy takedown attempt and Fighter B counters with a one-two to the body. Fighter A tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fighter B swivels and escapes. Fighter B steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fighter B shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fighter B showed some decent athleticism there. Fighter A controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighter B sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fighter A defending well though. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fighter B in particular looking to stall. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Fighter B is continuing to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Fighter B slaps away a takedown attempt from Fighter A, before circling back to the center of the mat. Fighter B is trying to counter with his kicks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighter A tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fighter B sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fighter A somewhat. Fighter B is trying to counter with his kicks. Fighter B shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Fighter B was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fighter A is being controlled here. Xxx Xxx is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Fighter B lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fighter A down.
Xxx Xxx has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Fighter A can't do much from the bottom here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Fighter B is staying tight to Fighter A's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that's the end of the fight! Xxx Xxx comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Fighter B has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
