PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Choke (ranked 11 p4p, 47 weight class) and Randy Randleman (ranked 2 p4p, 11 weight class). Randleman is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bloodhound Gang - Bad Touch. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, David Choke!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Randleman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choke shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Randleman as he avoids it easily.
Randleman looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Choke has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Choke with a lazy takedown attempt
and Randleman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Choke displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Randleman throws out the jab.
Choke drops down looking for a counter takedown but Randleman sprawls and moves away.
Choke shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Randleman defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Choke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Choke looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Randleman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Choke is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Randleman has managed to free his arm - good work.

Randleman feints and then cracks Choke's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Choke down.

Randleman manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Choke keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Randleman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Randleman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Choke manages to avoid it.
Randleman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Choke was well out of range. Poor timing from Randleman.

Choke sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Randleman's guard.

Randleman tries to roll over but Choke keeps him under control.

Randleman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

David Choke overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Randleman creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Randleman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Randleman lands a big head kick that sends Choke tumbling to the mat! Randleman takes a step backwards and waves Choke back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like David Choke has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Randleman counters with a nice right hand that sends Choke toppling to the canvas! Choke scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Randleman finish him?!

Choke is rocked!

Randleman ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Choke's jaw. Choke's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Randleman does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Randy Randleman!

After the fight, Randy Randleman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
