PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shape Shifter (ranked 933 p4p, 1155 weight class) and Donner Keil (ranked 147 p4p, 179 weight class). Donner Keil has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Shape Shifter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donner Keil!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Keil misses with a hook. Shifter ducked under it nicely.
Shifter appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Keil shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Shifter tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Keil defends well and Shifter ends up having to push Keil into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Keil is pressed up against the cage. Shifter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Keil down to the mat. Keil avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Shifter drops down looking for an ankle pick but Keil pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shape Shifter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Shifter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Keil has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Shifter has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Keil working aggressively here.
Shifter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Shifter has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Keil clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Keil is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shifter is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Keil is trying to get back to his feet but Shifter has full control of the position and if anything, Keil has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Keil has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Shifter is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Keil defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Keil trying to get back to his feet but Shifter is in full control for now.

Shifter thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Shifter is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Keil is defending well though. Shifter let's go of the attempt for now.

Keil is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Shifter off. It looks like it's working - Shifter slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Keil displaying calm under pressure there.

Keil tries to clinch there but Shifter circles away.
Shifter appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Keil connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Shifter avoids the head kick by Keil.
Shifter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Keil is fending him off so far but Shifter persists. Nope, Keil circles away and we're back to standing.
A little jabbing left from Keil on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

enabling Keil to counter with a crisp jab.

Shifter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
It seemed like Keil was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Shifter avoids a punch combination nicely.
Shifter half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Shifter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Keil's waist but Keil gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shifter off to one side.

Keil pushes Shifter up against the cage in a clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Keil connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Shifter momentarily.
Some bone on bone action there as Shifter checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
No luck for Shifter with that takedown attempt.
Shifter backing away here, and Keil unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Donk. Keil catches Shifter right on the button with a cross.

Keil moves into range and clinches up with Shifter.
Keil scores with a shoulder strike.
Shifter tries for a takedown but Keil manages to get underhooks.
Keil fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Keil struggles to land a body shot inside as Shifter controls his hands.
Shifter goes for a takedown in the clinch but Keil prevents it.

Shifter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Shifter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Keil smiles and moves away.
Shifter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Keil's waist but Keil gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shifter off to one side.
Keil stuffs the takedown attempt from Shifter. Shifter gets slowly back to his feet.
Keil throws a fast counter high kick but Shifter manages to duck under it in time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shifter misses with a takedown attempt - Keil sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Shifter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Keil won't be happy with that.
Keil wants to get back to his feet but Shifter drags him back down.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Shifter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Keil is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shifter tries for a kimura but Keil is defending well.

Keil is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Shifter asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Keil is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Shifter working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Keil bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Shifter wants to clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

and Keil counters with a crisp right hand that drops Shifter! Keil lets Shifter back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Shifter is rocked!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Donner Keil showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Keil throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Shifter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Keil tries to avoid it but Shifter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Keil to the ground. Keil escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Oh Shifter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Keil defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shifter.
Shifter seems to have got his legs back now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keil throws a hook but Shifter avoids it easily.

Shifter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Keil avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Keil tries to throw a body punch but Shifter avoids it by throwing Keil back against the cage.
Shifter has Keil pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Keil manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Keil gets underhooks to prevent Shifter's takedown attempt.

Keil breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Donner Keil is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Shifter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Keil's guard.

Shifter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shifter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Keil wants to get back to his feet but Shifter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Keil keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Keil flicks out a counter leg kick but Shifter steps away.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Shifter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Keil's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Keil keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Shifter moves out of range of the strikes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Shifter is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
Donner Keil comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Keil winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
