This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 14 losses; Gaston Juncker! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 27 losses; Jackson Ramirez! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Juncker shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ramirez napping and manages to drive through into side control! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Juncker (4) vs (0) Ramirez Juncker trying to control the action but Ramirez is working from the bottom. Ramirez tries to improve position but can't. Ramirez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Juncker's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Juncker uses his free foot to push down on Ramirez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ramirez. Score +3 for passing guard: Juncker (7) vs (0) Ramirez We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Juncker sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez wants to control but Juncker is having none of it. Juncker wants to take Ramirez's back but he can't do it this time. Ramirez tries to get back to half guard but can't. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Juncker moves to his opponent's back but Ramirez bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Juncker. That's three minutes gone in the round. Juncker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Ramirez pulls Juncker in to control the position. Juncker is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Juncker looking to pass the guard. Ramirez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Juncker content to stall in guard here. Ramirez has control of Juncker's left arm, preventing Juncker from doing any damage.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Juncker trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom. Juncker sitting in guard here, content to control. Ramirez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Our spies down at at KFA inform us that Ramirez has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Let's hope that Ramirez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Ramirez looking for a sweep. Not yet Ramirez, not yet. Juncker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramirez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Ramirez pulls Juncker in close to prevent any damage. Ramirez has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Juncker has passed into side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Juncker (12) vs (2) Ramirez You can see the frustration on Ramirez's face as Juncker controls the position. Ramirez tries to bench press Juncker off him but Juncker keeps the position.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Juncker taking a breather here. Ramirez tries to buck Juncker off but Juncker is having none of it. Ramirez is holding Juncker down, trying to stall. Juncker is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ramirez wants to control but Juncker is having none of it. Juncker content just to control the position here.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Juncker takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ramirez reaches up to try and control the position but Juncker seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ramirez rolls and tries to escape and now Juncker has his back!

And that's the end of the fight! Juncker takes the fight on points by 17 to 2. After winning the bout, Gaston Juncker thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
