And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 28 losses; Jackson Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. McDonald feints and as Ramirez raises his hands in defense, McDonald changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: McDonald (2) vs (0) Ramirez McDonald has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Ramirez keeping full guard, as McDonald tries to pass. Our spies down at at KFA inform us that Ramirez has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? McDonald trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom. McDonald looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McDonald tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramirez is retaining full guard. McDonald is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Ramirez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ramirez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McDonald manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ramirez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McDonald is keeping the position for now. McDonald is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Ramirez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. It looks like Ramirez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. McDonald is looking to get back to full guard here but Ramirez has managed to pass to side control instead. Score +3 for passing guard: McDonald (2) vs (5) Ramirez The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. McDonald looks to move to half guard but instead Ramirez has passed into mount! Damn! Score +2 for reaching mount: McDonald (2) vs (7) Ramirez McDonald tries to hold on but Ramirez postures up.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Ramirez controlling from the full mount. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. McDonald is looking to get to half guard.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. McDonald tries to lock up and control but Ramirez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ramirez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. McDonald wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Score +3 for taking back: McDonald (2) vs (10) Ramirez Ramirez is riding his opponent, not letting McDonald buck him off.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Ramirez keeps control of the position as McDonald tries to break free.
Ramirez has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of McDonald's body.
I really don't envy McDonald right now.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Ramirez just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. McDonald tries to roll but Ramirez sticks to his back.
Ramirez has good solid back control here. McDonald is in bad spot here.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
McDonald tries to break free.
Ramirez is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight! Ramirez wins on points by 10 to 2. An out of breath and clearly excited Jackson Ramirez thanked Threads of Fate for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him). The defeated David McDonald had this to say: 'Fall down seven times, get up eight.'. |
