And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 33 wins and 51 losses; Billy Turturro! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? No luck for Turturro with that takedown attempt. Turturro darts in looking for a takedown but Kersikov gets double underhooks and turns Turturro into the cage. Kersikov goes for a double leg but Turturro avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Turturro continues to drive forward. Kersikov turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Kersikov (4) vs (0) Turturro The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kersikov happy to just control the position for now. Turturro is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Turturro is not content to let Kersikov control the position. Turturro is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turturro wants to get back to full guard. Turturro controlling the position well. Turturro actively working from the bottom here. Kersikov prevents Turturro from improving his position. Kersikov tries to pass to full mount but Turturro defends it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Turturro seems keen to control Kersikov's posture. Kersikov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kersikov preventing the sweep. Kersikov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kersikov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Turturro has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Turturro looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kersikov puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Turturro is trying to get back to full guard. Turturro is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Turturro gets full guard. Kersikov looking to pass the guard. Kersikov showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Turturro is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Let's hope that Turturro has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Kersikov trying to control the position from guard on top but Turturro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Turturro controls Kersikov momentarily but Kersikov frees himself. Turturro pulls Kersikov in close to his closed guard and prevents Kersikov from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turturro is on top in guard.

Kersikov keeping full guard, as Turturro tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My spies in Blacktalians MMA inform me that Turturro has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Turturro is taking a breather. Kersikov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Turturro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kersikov keeps working. Turturro moves into full mount! Kersikov won't be happy about that! Score +3 for passing guard: Kersikov (4) vs (8) Turturro Kersikov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Turturro mounts Kersikov! Really nice guard pass there! Turturro controlling the position easily from mount. Kersikov is wriggling around trying to escape.
Turturro takes Kersikov's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Kersikov is in trouble. Score +3 for taking back: Kersikov (4) vs (11) Turturro Turturro patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Turturro trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Kersikov breaks Turturro's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Turturro's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Turturro trying to keep a closed guard but Kersikov is proving a slippery customer.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Kersikov being controlled here momentarily. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Turturro. Kersikov controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Turturro is pulling down on Kersikov's head. It's preventing any offense from Kersikov, at least for the moment. Turturro keeping moving, preventing Kersikov from controlling successfully. Turturro is trying to keep Kersikov in close.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Turturro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kersikov is one step ahead there.
