Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Montrese Andersson (ranked 1429 p4p, 3215 weight class) and Rahmi Kaan (ranked 191 p4p, 347 weight class). Andersson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wax -- Who Is Next. Montrese Andersson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rahmi Kaan's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Montrese Andersson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rahmi Kaan! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Andersson tries for a takedown but Kaan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Andersson thuds his right hand into Kaan's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Andersson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kaan now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Andersson works the jab nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Andersson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kaan sprawls well initially but Andersson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Andersson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kaan's head. Andersson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kaan keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Andersson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kaan is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Kaan preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Kaan is defending against the submission attempts here by Andersson.
Andersson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kaan is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kaan wants to get back to full guard. Andersson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kaan keeps working. Kaan is controlling Andersson's trapped leg to prevent Andersson from advancing to side control. Kaan is staying active underneath Andersson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Andersson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kaan sprawls well initially but Andersson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Kaan has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Andersson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Andersson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Andersson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Andersson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kaan keeps working. Kaan trying to control from the bottom.
Kaan tries to roll over but Andersson keeps him under control. Andersson is nestled in close to Kaan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Andersson wants to control but Kaan is keeping him busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kaan is trying to get back to full guard. Kaan keeps trying to improve his position. Andersson wants to pass to mount but Kaan is defending the position. Kaan strikes from the bottom but Andersson passes into mount!
Andersson looking for a guillotine from mount but Kaan is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Andersson avoids the attempt from Kaan to control. Kaan is looking to get to half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Montrese Andersson dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Kaan misses with a hook
and Andersson counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kaan! Andersson has control of an arm but Kaan manages to advance to Andersson's back! Kaan is hanging on to Andersson's back as he tries to escape.
Andersson breaks Kaan's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Andersson is pushing down on Kaan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kaan is fighting to maintain full guard but Andersson has managed to sneak the leg through. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Andersson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Kaan tries to get to full guard but Andersson has control of the leg. Andersson throwing shots but Kaan is blocking nicely. Andersson works his way into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kaan takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Kaan is trying to control Andersson's posture but Andersson avoids it. Kaan is looking to reverse the position. Andersson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Andersson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Andersson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kaan can do to turn this around? Andersson working the strikes but Kaan uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Andersson seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaan is trying to get back to full guard. Andersson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kaan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Andersson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Andersson is trying to control. Kaan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kaan wants to get back to full guard. Andersson winds up and cracks Kaan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kaan is in trouble now - Andersson has advanced to mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kaan wants to control but Andersson is having none of it. Andersson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Kaan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Andersson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Andersson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Kaan is rocked!
It looks like Rahmi Kaan has been cut. Andersson cracks Kaan with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Montrese Andersson! Montrese Andersson retains his lightweight title! An out of breath Montrese Andersson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
